The compensation manager is responsible for overall compensation philosophy and design. The compensation manager plans, develops, communicates, and implements compensation programs, policies, and procedures to align with the Silver Cross goals and competitive practices. This role serves as the compensation subject matter expert for Silver Cross and will ensure compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies as well as federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs. Develops strategies to communicate and enhance understanding of Silver Cross’s compensation philosophy.
Manage design and execution of job leveling, job family structure, including job analysis and evaluation, job descriptions, career ladders, salary ranges, and related compensation practices.
Design and drive annual employee compensation planning activities integrated with performance management processes, including salary increase review cycle, promotions, and market adjustments.
Develop and implement variable incentive compensation program including plan design, plan documentation, and incentive payments.
Provides advice to hiring managers on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
Develops techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting data.
Monitors, provides analysis, and consults with managers regarding pay equity by role to ensure competitive pay internally and externally.
Monitors, provides analysis, and consults with leadership regarding deferred compensation, legacy company payments, and special payments.
Develop and document procedures ensuring compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and applicable federal, state, and local statutory requirements.
Stay abreast of compensation trends and best practices, drive improvement and in Silver Cross compensation programs.
Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and the Silver Cross objectives.
Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
Manages partnerships with compensation vendors.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum five years’ experience in analysis, design, and implementation of compensation programs in a complex work environment.
Advanced analytical skills, hands-on experience in compensation analysis and the design and implementation of variable compensation systems, compensation programs, job evaluation techniques, market surveys and compensation administration.
Demonstrated ability to proactively manage performance and develop team members and lead cross-functional teams and initiatives.
Skilled in project management including overseeing large-scale project.
Expert knowledge of salary and compensation grade structures and ability to evaluate positions against structures.
Expert understanding of job analysis including proper FLSA exempt status evaluation.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as they apply to compensation programs.
Manages ambiguity, adapts to shifting priorities, and balances workload with competing priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to various stakeholders.
Excellent problem resolution skills.
Client-centric with an orientation to follow-through, drive to alignment and closure.
Highly organized with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred.
Workday experienced strongly preferred.
Education and Training:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) strongly preferred.
