The Compensation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the company’s compensation program enhances the company’s ability to attract and retain talent. The individual in this position is also responsible for overseeing and maintaining the job descriptions and the compensation philosophy.
Partner with hiring managers to understand job roles
Evaluates jobs utilizing the job analysis to determine essential job duties and minimum requirements; evaluates the organizational structure, employee utilization and internal/external benchmark comparators and makes a recommendation as to the appropriate pay range for the position.
Assist managers in preparing and maintaining job descriptions, job analysis, job evaluations and job classifications to define job levels and families
Benchmark positions against market and provide recommendations on salary offers and promotions
Conduct on-going compensation based research through available benchmark surveys to determine competitiveness
Assist in the development and delivery of total reward statements
Coordinate and prepare employee communications with regard to compensation
Research, analyze and organize salary data into meaningful data and presentation material, draw sound conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations
Consults with all levels of management on the administration and interpretation of Compensation programs, policies and procedures, and legal requirements
Serve as a back-up for payroll processing, bonus calculation, and special pay requests
Ensure company compliance with provisions of federal and state laws and regulations, including reporting requirements
Other responsibilities as assigned
5+ years related job experience required
Understanding and application of U.S. laws and regulations, including FLSA
Previous HRMS experience is required, preferably Ultimate Software
Advanced Excel skills required
Excellent written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills
Ability to adapt to changing and new priorities
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Good mathematical and statistical skills
Must be able to ask appropriate questions that uncover underlying issues
Ability to consistently meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
Strong knowledge of HRMS software
Ability to demonstrate objectivity in decision-making and the ability to maintain confidentiality of all employee data and matters
