The Compensation Analyst functions as a subject matter expert for all aspects of compensation ensuring that the college's compensation program remains consistent, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented staff employees. The position manages the technical components of the compensation program such as: position evaluations, market pricing analysis, annual increase processes, salary structure updates, and serves as the HRIS resource for compensation related data and reporting. The position is expected to make recommendations for policy, process, and efficiency improvements to services for managers and meeting the metrics identified for the compensation function.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Responsible for position evaluations to determine appropriate classification (grade, job family, job code, title, pay, union status and FLSA status). •Ensure consistency, internal equity and market competitiveness, and provide recommendations for managers. •Ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing compensation. •Provide expertise on wage & hour employment laws and regulations such as FLSA, minimum wage, overtime, and other relevant regulations. •Research and monitor FLSA compliance, communicating areas of risks and impact to Director as necessary to ensure corrective action is taken. •Provide recommendations for job descriptions to ensure consistency across the college in titles and job content for staff positions. •Maintain job documentation library ensuring the up-to-date descriptions are on file for all staff positions. •Maintain and update the staff compensation salary structure and research market trends to make recommendations for enhancements, improvements and increased competitiveness. •Plan the coordination, administration, and reporting of annual increase processes including: merit increases for non-union staff and faculty and increases for union staff consistent with collective bargaining agreements (USofCC and Local 399). •Administer merit implementation process, which includes but is not limited to planning roll-outs, creating merit worksheets, generating letters for employees, and working with departments such as IT, Controller's Office, and Payroll to process payment of salary increases and ensure accurate pay and record-keeping. •Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of data and develops exhibits that summarize findings using excel and Power Point. •Maintain position and compensation related data in PeopleSoft ensuring consistent utilization of job codes, salary grades, etc. and conduct monthly audits to ensure data is accurate. •Prepare various PeopleSoft reports upon request by members of the HR team such as: employee census data, position and compensation data, affirmative action plan data, and other ad-hoc requests. •Complete and submit salary surveys and analyze market movement to evaluate market competitiveness of the college's compensation structure and provide recommendations based on market data. •Document compensation administration practices and system procedures focusing on best practices. •Assist with periodic audits conducted by the college's external auditors to ensure accurate compensation data, documentation, and practices. •Publish and maintain compensation pages on the college's internal and external websites. •Identifying process improvements to streamline workflows and services to managers. •Manage special projects and/or studies on a variety of compensation projects, programs and policies and related matters. •Perform other duties as assigned.
•Bachelor degree in business administration, finance, human resources or other field related is required. •Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is preferred. •Three to five years of relevant compensation work experience. •Advanced knowledge of compensation theory/practice, and local, state and federal laws and regulations such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Pay Act, minimum wage, overtime and record keeping requirements. •Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with advanced technical skills specifically in Excel (V-lookups, pivot tables). •PeopleSoft (v9.2) experience preferred. •Advanced analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills and abilities. •Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency. •Excellent verbal and written communication skills. •Ability to communicate technical information in a simple manner that is easy for others to understand. •Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with department heads, managers, employees, consultants and members of the HR team. •Ability to handle all situations with professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality. •Must be self-directed, innovative and able to assess current operations in an effort to meet departmental goals and improve service delivery to departments. •Must be organized and be able to manage a heavy workload efficiently and in a timely manner. •Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines consistently.
